Content for My Blog
So we know what a Blog is and a little bit about why search engines love blogs and why people are fans of blogs... But what do I blog about... Where do I get content ideas?
Here are a few tips...
1. Don't stress over content ideas - Just write about anything. Interesting news, stuff happening in you life, industry news, local news.. whatever
2. Recent events that you attended - Did you go to a seminar recently? Or attend an industry tradeshow? Write about it...
3. Upcoming Events that you are planning to attend. Write a post... "I just signed up for this course..." Tell your readers why you registered, etc.
4. Updates on local news - Give your readers the latest update on your neighbourhood
5. Tips are always nice... Spring Cleaning Tips, Photography Tips, Packing Tips... Whatever tips are related to your industry or would be valuable in people's lives... write them out.
6. Take a post from a Guru and comment on his or her post. Check out Seth Godin's blog... find a recent post you like and then elaborate on his thoughts for your audience.
7. If you've just completed an important project... Celebrate it with a blog post!
8. Launching a new project? Announce the launch with a blog post
9. Did you hire someone new, write about them... Ask them to write a post about why they joined your team.
10. Write about some controversy or "big industry secret" Push the envelope and poke fun at your industry.
Those 10 ideas should get you started. I heard the marketing guy, Mike Blaney say recently... "Ideas are great but the most important thing is execution" I hope you can take these ideas and put them into practice. Blogging is awesome and knowledge is powerful, but implementation is the key!
