Blog Training Yesterday in Vancouver

We just wrapped up our blog training yesterday in downtown Vancouver. There was a great variety of people in our training. We had people ranging from Real estate profession to law to personal fitness, join us for the blog training.

I was reminded of the importance of getting started with your internet marketing efforts. If you are not doing anything or are doing very little with your web marketing efforts getting started with a blog can seem like an overwhelming task. The momentum to start something is always more than the momentum required to keep something rolling.

Today I want to give you a little jump start on your blogging efforts by giving you a few tips to get started.

1. Write down the purpose of your blog
Here's an example: Yesterday we had someone from a Drug Treatment facility at our training. He is starting a blog to "help people with their addictions." His blog is not about "Why you need drug treatment?" or about their treatment facility. He is just planning to become the expert online as people are looking for help with their addictions. Which brings me to idea # 2

2. Offer something of Value to People in your Blog
Yes promote your stuff in your blog, but also give information away. Give people something of value on your blog and they will come back. Give them a reason to come back and they will do business with you or will refer you to someone else they know.  The final tip for today.

3. Don't bite off more than you can chew!
I'm often asked how many posts should I write in a week. In an ideal world you are blogging everyday but going from 0 blog posts to 7 blog posts is a huge jump. I don't even blog everyday! So the answer here is to start with something simple and grow into more. Setting up a blog at Wordpress.com might be your first step, then write a minimum of 1 post / week for 6 weeks and then grow to 3 posts / week etc. If you are just getting started don't set yourself up for failure by feeling like you have to do it all (blogging, video, adwords) at once. The pyramids weren't built overnight.

There are a few tips to get you started. If you are ready and itching to get going, check out the special stuff we have happening in September http://www.reachd.com/september Learn about several facets of internet marketing in small bit sized chunks.
