Power of Web 2.0 in Search Engine Optimization

We just finished our Advanced SEO Bootcamp and we had a chance to introduce the group to power of Web 2.0 websites in the Search Engine results.

Web 2.0 sites are basically sites which focus on a conversation - a place where you can post a page, comment, connect with Friends or create a group. They are often free to use and pages change quite frequently so the web 2.0 scene is a fluid scene.

Here are a few examples of Web 2.0 sites - Upcoming.org, Digg, Reddit, Hubpages, Wetpaint, Squidoo -- Just to name a few. Others are cropping up all the time.

In our Bootcamp we talked briefly about a technique that we have been testing to jump to the front of the Search engine results with Web 2.0 properties. The test we performed was focused on a specific building Govenor's Tower and Villa at 388 Drake and we found with the test that just using Web 2.0 sites and our blog, we could capture a good number of the top spots on the first page of the Search Engines.

What is exciting about this?

It only took me about 2 hours to do the work once I got the technique down.

So many people that we talk to say, "I don't have time to do all this work!" If you can take control of several spots on the front page of Google using Web 2.0, it seems like 2 hours is a small price to pay -- but just our opinion -- you decide for yourself.

In the coming weeks, we will plan to write a few more articles about the power of Web 2.0 in Search Engine Optimization.

Below is a screenshoot for a Search for the term Governors Tower and Villa - You will see that my various pages hold 5 positions.
