SEO Tip: Remeber to include the call to action
Our Essentials workshop just ended. You can read the about SEO workshop particiapants on our SEO Workshop graduates page.
We had a good group and took some extended time for site reviews during this workshop, which in my opinion is one of the hightlights of the Bootcamp. Find out more about our Search Engine and Adwords Bootcamps
One piece of advice that really stood out throughout the site reviews was the need for a call to action. Many of the sites that we looked at were beautiful sites, with some awesome information but the call to action was lacking. Most visitors to your sites need to be told what to do or "gently" lead to the next step on your website.
Two Tips regarding a call to action
- The call to action should be above the fold. If I have to scroll down to se the call to action I'm going to miss it
- Call to action should be in agreement with your personal style. We had a bit of a debate about the hard sale and have the flashing call to action that says, "Limited One Time offer, don't delay order today!" Some people claim to not be comfortable with the in your face approach, which is fine. A word of caution is don't skip the call to action just because you don't want to be pushy. Try different call to action phrases on different pages and see what people responde to.
Thanks again to everyone that attended the workshop. We enjoyed hosting and wish you success with your site.
