Vary Your Link Text so that it does not Look Contrived
This tip is a follow up to our internal linking tip earlier this week. In the earlier tip we mentioned that you should use internal linking to link to the important pages on your site.
It is also important to vary the link text a slightly that you use when you are linking to internal pages. You can use synonyms and even the occasional "click here"
Why do you want to do this? Because you don't want your link reputation to look contrived or unnatural.
Here is an example...We have a page on our site all about our upcoming Search Engine Sales Bootcamp with Shane Gibson. If I were going to link to this page, I might use the following terms.
- Search Engine Sales Training
- SEO & Sales Training
- Learn to Improve Your ROI
- Find Out More
These are all terms which relate to our page so would be effective to use all of these terms throughout the site when linking to the site.
Of course "search engine sales training" would be my primary link text and I would use that at least 60% of the time.
Take a few minutes and email me, if you need me to further clarify this tip.
All the Best,
Rodney Bartlett
