The video training in Seattle this weekend was unbelievable. Gary Vaynerchuk from WineLibrarytv.com was in Seattle, so we stopped by the training. The night before the training we were able to catch up with Gary at the W Hotel in Seattle and talk Web 2.0, Video and Social Media.

We had the chance to do a bit of training at BCIT for the Small Business Growth series. Peter Legge, was the keynote speaker and did a killer job. Thanks for the book Peter, I'm looking forward to the read. In our class we did a little spur of the moment video and I thought I'd share it with you here. We also got into a discussion about online quick easy video vs. produced broadcast quality video. 

My two cents...

A baby doesn't go from crawling on the floor to running a marathon, so why should you? If you don't have any video on your site, start with a simple upload to YouTube and grow into more complicated things.

USA Today recently took a play from the Reachd Playbook and interview the head of web spam at Google, Matt Cutts, to find out what you can do to get your website to appear higher in the search engine results pages. Read the USA Today article here and the Reachd interview with Matt here

1. Spotlight your search term. What would people search for on Google to find your business or product? It is important in this step to think like a customer. Get into their head - often times people search in a very unique way.

Have you used the Alexa Ranking before?

The Alexa ranking is a ranking based on your website traffic. If you've seen that Alexa rank or heard of that number but not sure what it all means - you're in luck.

Okay this post is sort of fun. We did a search on Google the other day and found - 9 of the 10 positions were referencing our training. Pretty cool :)

You know how we did it - Filling the internet with content about our training by advertising as many places as we can. List our stuff in as many free sites as we can.

Here is one free site that preforms well in the search engines - kijiji.ca and kijiji.com I consistently see Kijiji listings showing in the search results.

Yesterday Google announced an agreement with Yahoo! to show their Sponsored Links (Google Adwords) on the Yahoo! U.S. and Canadian search results. Google will also provided content advertising to Yahoo! as well. Google is already has a similar partenership with Ask.com and AOL.com and you can read more about Google's Post about the Yahoo! Google agreement here

A few points about the deal according to Tech Crunch

1. It is none exclusive - Google and Yahoo! ads will run on Yahoo! 2. It is expected to add $800 million in revenue 3. Yahoo! natural search will be unaffected by the agreement

I signed up for another social networking site last night.

It's been around for a while, and been on my list of things to check out. I'm like you -- just wondering if it was actually worth my time. So what is twitter? - Rather than listen to be blab about it you can watch this video from Twitter about Twitter. In a nut shell Twitter is a way to post quick questions or comments to friends, colleagues and or clients. Sort of like text messaging online for the world to see.
